Most people undergo reshaping for cosmetic reasons like a deviated septum, cleft palate, etc. However, it can be done for medical reasons as well.

• Preparing for the surgery

• Patients are advised not to consume anti-inflammatory medicines and supplements.
• Smoking and alcohol must be avoided at least two weeks before the surgery
• It is advised to use of sunscreen with SPF 30 or more.

• During the surgery

• The procedure is an outpatient procedure and takes about one to three hours.
• It is done with the help of local anesthesia.
• The surgeon creates incisions at the base of the nose and within the nostril since it is an invasive procedure.
• The cartilage and inner bone are given the desired shape, and stitches are done. 
• Post-surgery
• Patients are usually advised to wear a nasal splint right after the surgery.
• Patients have bruises and swelling in and around the eyes and nose post-surgery.
• Patients are advised to avoid arduous physical activities and exercises at least 3 to 6 weeks post-surgery. 
• Avoid smoking and alcohol for at least two weeks after surgery.
